Five Long days to go!!

Hi Everyone!

Hope ye are all enjoying Dublin, unfortunately there’s still a good bit to do here so I’m not going to make it to the RDS. Instead I’ve had to settle for updates from our Press Officer who did manage to get there!

A lot has happened since my last blog. The Olympic jumps have arrived and are looking great! We also started doing up our office where I work during the show! A big thanks to Oisin, Conor, Ryan and Darragh for painting the office and dispensing with the counters.

The Office gets a paint job!

Entries are massive and this show will be the biggest show jumping event ever held at Green Glens. Due to such large numbers we have decided to alter the schedule which you can view here. Also we are no  longer taking entries so please don’t even ask as refusal may offend. A schooling round for International and Boomerang horses has also been added so that will start on Tuesday August 13th at 14.00. I appeal to all of you to be as efficient as possible next week and please be polite to the Pocket Stewards as it is not an easy job for them!

On a lighter note, last evening I finally got an evening off to go to the Millstreet Community School Debs where I also teach. Below is a photo of myself, Alanna and Sinead (who also work in the office). The girls looked fab and we all had a great night!

I look forward to seeing everyone next week, please stop by and say hello and I hope that there wont be too many problems! I wish everyone the best of luck and I hope that you all find your visit to Millstreet enjoyable and prosperous.

Regards

Eimear

The Count Down is On!

Hi Everyone

The count down is now on for Millstreet. The office is now very busy trying to get everything done. Over the past week we have had the three year old Young Irelander Qualifiers which were very successful. I would like to say a big thank you to our judges: Paul Donovan and Tom Slattery. There is now just three places up for grabs at West Cork Breeders Show on July 27th. It is imperative that all those qualified already must enter online as you will not be automatically entered into the semi-final.

Entries are also closing on Friday July 19th so if you have not entered please do so. This year there will be a number of new faces amongst out International Riders which includes Canadians Nicole Walker and Rebecca McGoldrick. We will also have Australian Rider Wendy Schaeffer winner of this years World Cup in Adelaide in Australia.

If anyone has any queries please give us a ring in the office 029 70800

Thanks

Busy week!

Hi Everyone,

Its been a busy week for me. As many of you will see the entries are now open and since yesterday we have had a large amount of entries which is great to see. I was delighted to see that we have a number of entries from Wales already and I really look forward to meeting all these new people this year.

Yesterday we had a long but very insightful meeting on the format of the Eventing Discovery. This year we have slightly altered the flatwork display and this new test will be on our website in the coming days. There will also be separate dressage arenas for the 4 and 5 year olds so this should save some time.

On Sunday I stayed home from Charleville to watch the Hickstead Derby and I was thrilled to see Paul Beecher winning the class. The Beecher Family have been coming to Millstreet a very long time and are loyal supporters. It was great to see all Paul’s hard work paying off and hopefully his run of form will continue.

Next week I should have news and photos of the new stables!!

Latest Developments

Hi Everyone and welcome to my weekly blog which will outline and update you on the progress at Millstreet between now and our horse show on August 7th.We are very excited this year as we are hosting a CSI***.

For me, this entails alot of extra administration work. For the past couple of weeks I have spent my time finalising the FEI Schedule which is now available on this website. This year you will see alot of new developments which are currently taking place. All of Stable Blocks A, B, E, F & G have been taken down and will be replaced by approximately 500 new boxes.

Currently the online form is just being finalised and it will be up shortly on our website. Hopefully tomorrow (Thursday) I will have a better idea of the actual date on which the form will be online but my hope is this Friday June 22nd.

Please check back next week for more news!
